Anyone heard of or used the new Hera Arms Glock Carbine Conversion? Where can I find one? Anyone?

In Israel I believe, but you might want to look at the Kel-Tec SUB 2000 fitted for Glock 17 mags in the meantime.

From a bit of looking online, I'm pretty sure that this would turn your glock into an SBR, so you'd have to get your tax stamp to convert it. On top of that, you may run into legal issues converting it back.

I can guarantee you that you are going to run into legal issues converting it too. It is intended for the model G-18 FAMP that civilians are prohibited from owning no matter how many tax stamps you buy there guy. Take it from a Certified Glock Armorer!

It's not made "specificly" for the Glock 18. It'll fit any almost all glock models except the subcompacts and the .45 and 10mm models

It fits the Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 31, and 32. They provide all of the paperwork to register your converted glock as a Short Barrel Rifle...

Plus they are working on a 16" barrel conversion that will not require NFA paperwork.

According to the ATF, if you convert a pistol into a rifle configuration, like by attaching a butt stock and a long barrel, it is now a rifle.

This is important because the National Firearms Act of 1934 makes it illegal to construct any firearm "made from a rifle" that is less than 26" in length and/or has less than a 16" barrel.

So, these conversions do legally allow you to create a Glock carbine, but you are then NOT allowed to convert it back into a pisol without registering the firearm under Title II of the NFA. (Short Barreled Rifle)

They are correct in saying it won't require "NFA paperwork" to convert to a rifle (as it would if the barrel was shorter than 16") BUT, if you ever want it to be a pistol again, you'll have to jump through those hoops anyway. And...then your "pistol" is a registered Title II firearm, illegal in some states, illegal to give or loan to any ther person, requiring sale to be through a SOT Class III dealer, and requireing you to file with the ATF when you want to take it across state lines.

This is quite a legal problem for owners of T/C Contenders and Encores, as well as for folks who use MechTech carbine kits.

I personally think the buying the kit is a waste of money, time, and effort.

Almost $500 to buy the kit, and over $500 to buy the Glock... You can buy a really nice Carbine for less than a $1000... Heck, with that kind of money, buy a carbine and then convert it into a bullpup...
