hey guys my little 130.00 hi point .380s slide won't stay back after emptying the magazine anymore. It used to. First outing was 50 rounds tul ammo with quite a few jams but slide stayed back after empty. Second outing was 50 rounds tul ammo flawless with no jams and slide stays back after empty. Third outing 25 rounds of the same tul ammo, slide would not stay back after emptying mag, 4 or 5 times to be exact, and I had one bad jam. After clearing the jam I ran a mag of 8 rounds through flawlessly but the slide still didn't stay back. Gun was cleaned after the 1st and 2nd outing and I'm certain that I put the gun back together right. Anyone have any exp. with hi points doing this? Thanks for any info.

The best thing about Hi point is there customer service just give them a call and tell them whats going on and they will send you the parts to fix it. Probably just a spring tho.

Yea, Thompsoncustom got it. All you need is a new magazine spring. They will probably send you one for free. If not, springs are like $3 or something.

It could also be that the recoil spring is just a touch to strong. Watch the brass ejecting to see if it's coming out with a good strong ejection. If it's a little weak and only tossing them out about a foot or so to the side this could indicate that the recoil spring is too strong. If so then it won't lock the slide back due to not traveling back far enough to reliably catch the slide stop hook.

You can also check the magazine spring. Put an empty mag in the gun then rack the slide back and while holding the slide check that the slide stop takes a decent amount of pressure to push it down to the "Release" position. If it's weak then the magazine spring is the suspect. If it's fairly firm to push it then likely it's the recoil spring is not letting the slide travel back far enough.

This. They have the best customer service, bar none, from all reports I've read. Just call them and tell them.
