Hello all
I picked up some very inexpensive bcg a few weeks ago. They have no markings at all. They are not chrome lined at all. I really did not plan on using them but I have been wondering. Would it be a good idea to use a high quality bolt in a low quality carrier?
Something like the Sharps relia-bolt? or other Nib coated bolt?

The carrier is under very little stress, unlike the bolt.

As long as the carrier's finish/roughness isn't so bad that it damages the bolt rings or causes added wear to the receiver, you should be fine.

Yeah as long as the internal piston cylinder walls are smooth (and the right diameter) and the carrier key staked on, there is not much to it other than mass.

Carrier key staking is one of the biggest faults of cheaper carriers. An unstaked or poorly staked key will work for a while, then fail at some point. If it's just a range gun it doesn't matter much.

I have seen some cheaper carriers that were so far out of dimensional spec (especially on the cam pin track) that the rifle was not reliable. This will be obvious in the first couple dozen shots if there is a problem.

I wouldn't spend major money on a bolt with a cheap carrier, because your reliability is limited by the weakest component. Just get a cheap $40 bolt and be happy.

It came with a bolt , but has no marking either. Does not appear to be MPI or HPT. The only reason I'm considering using it is that it is a M16 carrier.

Why does this subject and thread scare me so much?

Why would one purchase a high quality bolt and place it a poor quality bolt carrier?

Why would one even ask the question?

Because I have the carriers. They were cheap and I'm just wondering if a high quality bolt would make them better since the bolt takes more a use than the carrier.
