As I was perusing threads I ran across several recommendations for HK for CCW. As I looked thru the HK website I ran across the P7M8 model. Looks very interesting and about the size I am looking for. Has anyone got experience with this model?

It's a fairly light wieght and ergonomic auto. Very nicely made and very accurate in my experience. It's "unique" with that squeeze-cocking action as well. I don't own one, but wouldn't feel out-gunned with one. The only downside to it that I can see is the price...

Yeh, that was the only detriment I was seeing. But as someone else said, if you think guns are an expensive hobby, look at your friends that have cars as a hobby For a CCW, I think it would fit the bill perfectly.

Got three P7s.

For a nice flat easily-to-conceal 9mm semi-auto, the best out there.

Best engineered and best steel available.

with the machining necessary to make these bad boys run even with broken parts, worth the $700 to $1K price tag.

The P7M8 is the Amercian version with side thumb mag release.

for about $750, you can get the original P7s with the European heel mag release. Police trade ins are around for $200 cheaper than the P7M8 and are the gun guns and barrels and same accuracy without the side mag release.

I prefer the original P7 for CCW as the heel mag release is safer to avoid dumping your mags if you bump your mag release on something (unles driving in car carrying strongside at 3 o-clock.

Get one of those BMI's. I did!

Do a search under my user name. I've discussed the P7 in detail in other threads. In short, neat gun, but not for me.

I've got 3 of the P7s. I think they are about the greatest 9mm carry gun out there, with the only drawbacks being the price and difficulty getting mags and replacement parts.

Very accurate and (for me) the most natural pointing pistol I own. The p7m8 has a heat shield in the top of the trigger guard. My older ones don't have this, and they get pretty hot after 70 rounds at the range. Also, due to their gas system they don't run very well dirty and need to be cleaned after 300-600 rounds, depending on ammo used. I wouldn't choose one if I was going into battle, but for a concealed carry gun that I can clean regularly it is a great gun.
