Hi,

I am thinking of buying some Hodgdon tightgroup powder, I read that it is a "ball type" powder and I was wondering what size the grains were.

Thanks

I like titegroup very much!
I use it in 38 spl, 357mag, 9mm & sometimes 45 Colt.

I've found it burns cleanly, isn't sensitive to position in the case, & it's economical.
But you do have to be very careful not to dbl charge.
It has such a low charge wt that you could quad-charge before it overflows.

titegroup is a fine grain powder compared to others such as Unique or Bluedot. It measures consistently which is great if you use a volume measure such as as a Lee auto-disk. As Hondo 60 says w/ not much powder used, it easy to over charge.

Titegroup (Hodgdon left the 'gh' out of the name)

Like many powders, its granule size varies considerably.
Most of the granules are between 35 to 50 thousandths of an inch.

Just curious: Why do you ask?

And furthermore...

It is actually a 'flattened sherical' powder.
When you look at it closely, it looks like flat flakes.
It's actually a sphere, but they flatten it while it's still wet.

i like titegroup, although i havent loaded with it in a while.

ive become very fond of hp38 and use it more.

they look pretty much the same to me, but my eyes aint great.
