I purchased 2 lots of 224 bullets at a local gun shop going out of business auction. one lot of 1000 62 gr soft point and 500 65 gr with rusty red paint on the tip that both have a hollow/concave base. I can not find any loading data on on these bullet designs. Anyone ever load for this designed based bullets?

Sounds like you want data for 60-65gr jacketed bullets; should be pretty common.

Hunting for data for particular profile is almost always wasted time. Weight, Type (jacketed, mono, etc), and work up from Starting.

Sounds like you could have M856 tracers. They're more of an orange tip but have a base similar to what you describe. These spec at 63.7 grains and are long considering weight

I have data on these using H322, H335, W748 and I think Varget as well. A pic would help identify.

Here are mine:

The ones pictured look exactly like some of my .223 tracers. The paint may be red, orange, or some other like color. I have had many color variations in lots that I have purchased. One time I got some that had been polished and had no paint left on them. Just be careful where you shoot them as you could cause a fire.

As far as loading data just use standard data for that weight or the next heaviest weight and be sure to work up the load for the soft point bullets.
The tracers are longer and require a reduced load. IIRC I was advised to drop the charge weight by an extra 10% more than book values to be safe. Slow Fuse said he had data so he might be able to verify my memory.

Yeah I'll have to dig. Its been quite some time since I've fooled with these.

Seems like all of the powders mentioned did an OK job lighting them consistently but W748 was what I remember using the most.
