I would appreciate anyone sharing their experience, positive, negative, or otherwise on the Hollywood reloading press.

they come up maybe once a year. some guys have them. i have heard a lot of good things about them. you should do a search on the top. you will probably come up with a lot. i believe the place to find them and parts is ebay

A solution to a problem I don't have.

Probably best to answer a question with a question - for what purpose?

There was a time the Hollywood shotgun setup had a lot going for it for those who could afford it. These days it would be ridiculous - and doubly so compared to the competion where my own choice is a big Ponsness but there are others out there all high dollar and all better than the Hollywood.

There was a time the Hollywood Universal Turret had a lot going for it - in the days when matching primers and brass mattered a great deal more than it does today - the days of domed primers and such - the priming turret with 4 primer punches setup and ready to go was a real convenience. I suspect there are those who reading the old books didn't know that there were a variety of primers and some reasons to match primers and cases.

Today there is no logical reason to go with a Hollywood anything when the same money will buy something better and something as good can be bought cheaper.

That said I'm obvously happy to have a Universal Turret - which I bought because Elmer Keith said it was the best and at the time it might have been - with a bunch of primer punches and shell holders up to and including .50 Browning - because I still have it.

And I obviously prefer something else because I don't use the Hollywood for much of anything but display.

Well, asking about the value of a Hollywood press is somewhat like asking the value of a Ford. They made different models so we need to know the model number before making a guess.

Hollywood made excellant tools but, in my opinion, they are only worth what a simular used item from any other maker would be. Collector prices aside, why pay a premium price for a used defunct brand press when so many other good ones are out there?
