Get a shaving brush from your grandfather. Put some oil on the tip & you will be amazed. When done put it in a plastic zip loc until next time.
Heck, no! Get a real shaving brush from your grandfather? Then use it for shaving. It probably costs more than a hundred dollars today, is silver badger, and has decades more life in it. While you are at it, get his mug or bowl to use for lathering the shaving cream. Get a short handled double edge razor, some Merkur platinum coated blades, some pre- and post-shave lotion and you’ll love it shaving at least once a week.

While I don’t use it, I have my great-grandfather’s shaving mug. He died around 1906.

Oh, used t-shirts cloths are the loving rub I give my guns after cleaning.

I cut up old T shirts, as others do. They have the added benefit of being washable. Since folks have made T-shirts they have been put to this purpose as were long johns. Old flannel shirts have been also used. They may leave some lint, which itself can be wiped off, and I've not seen some lint do any harm itself.

Here's the choice. I can sell you something for $5. a 12"x12" sheet that will keep lint off your gun, or you can use your old T-shirts. Your choice.

I take Pay-Pal.

I use sheepskin. No it's not home made. But mine is probably 40 years old. And it holds Lube significantly better than thin cloth
When you're done wiping down your firearms you can put it in a plastic baggie for next time. I have used one for decades. Sometimes I use an old shaving brush made from Badger fur, or so I'm told.
