Has anyone even heard of such a projectile, I bought a box of 100 for the sum of $29.95 before tax, in fact it was their only box in the store, in Prescott, AZ. My curiosity got the best of me, and as I've got several .45ACP's, (Colt Gold Cup, a Sig Sauer, as well as a Star Firestar .45, and a Colt 1911A) I decided what the heck. They are copper jacketed, but the price is a bit high in my opinion.

Is anybody familiar with these bullets, and if so how did they perform, any load data also would be helpful.

Come on folks, surely someone has come across these bullets. I know I can use the recipe for 185grn. JHP's, or even the 200 grain SWC and just slightly increase the powder called for by tenths of grains. but am I the only one who ever came in contact with these types of bullets?

Forget it I feel like such a ninkumpoop, I just found all kinds of recipes in my Lyman 49th edition for Remington SWC 185grn FMJ, presume they're are same as the Hornady. I've only been familiar with the 200grn FMJ SWC.

I haven't shot any of those, but I have shot plenty of the Berrys 185 Gr SWC in .45 ACP. I have shot plenty of the Hornady 200 Gr SWC in .45 ACP. I imagine the 185 s will shoot just as well.

"...any load data..." Buckets of jacketed 185 grain .45 ACP data on Hodgdon's site. You do not need bullet maker specific data.
The Hornady bullet is just an oddly shaped FMJ. They're also currently not being made, so I wouldn't get too involved with 'em. Hornady says they've had a 200% increase in demand so they've "temporarily suspended" production of some stuff.

That has been going on for some time now. Hopefully they will catch up soon.

A Match grade 185 gr swc target bullet used for Bullseye pistol. For best accuracy, they need to be pushed faster than a 200 gr for the 50 yard line.

Looks like Hornady tried to copy Speer.

Federal loads theres to 770 fps. At 25 yards , ammo is loaded slower then this . Less power/velocity is used to reduce recoil for timed and rapid fire.

Have not used them.

the 185 jacketed SWC was the most popular in many clubs for NRA bullseye. I don't remember the exact charge, but IIRC, it was 4.5 grains of Bullseye

Very soft shooting and very accurate.

I preferred the 200 grain LSWC, but that's just me. (I'm a cheapskate:evil:)

I'll have to try some of those Berry's 185grn SWC as long as the Hornady is not going to be producing them anymore. I've noticed that my progressive press (RCBS) just doesn't like the lead bullets, as it gets all crudded up, and it is hard to get the OAL to be consistent. I just loaded up some 185grn JHP's by Hornady (very accurate). I've also used a lot of Extreme Bullets in the 200grn SWC and had really good luck with accuracy, and do like the nice round holes in the paper targets, makes it easy for scoring. BTW if I get an accurate load using those 185grn SWC I just might switch.

If your gun is finicky about SWC's, the Berrys 185 Gr HBRN shoots very well too.

You might wish to try the Rainier 200 plated SWC as well. I've had excellent accuracy with them.

If your machine doesn't like lead bullets, trade it in on a Dillon.
