Is the Hornady #2270 224 60 gr SP bullet the same bullet that is in the Hornady American whitetail 223 60 grain Interlock loaded ammo sold at Academy?

I looked on Hornady's website and it is saying the #2270 is a Varmint bullet.

There doesn't seem to be a 60 grain Interlock SP bullet available from Hornady, unless the 2270 is the same thing with a different name.

Since its the only .224 60gr soft point Hornady sells and the B.C. and SD are the same on both ammo and bullet I would say that is the bullet being used in the loaded ammo.

You can know for sure by asking Hornady.

Where does it say it's a Varmint bullet BTW?

It says Varmint on the box of bullets and is under the Varmint category on the Hornady website.

I found out that the American Whitetail 223 bullet and the Hornady 60 Grain SP are the same bullets.

This 60 gr SP must be a pretty good inexpensive bullet comparable to Winchester power point or Remington core lokt if Hornady is advertising this as deer ammo.

I think it would work well on coyotes. Has anyone tried this bullet on small deer?

While I'm sure the Hornady bullet is good I'm sure the Remington Core Lokt is an excellent bullet as is the Winchester bullets. I don't think the Hornady bullets cost any less and I'm not sure how the get the cost of the Hornady ammo down.
