hey gents looking for some load recommendations for 70gr GMX bullets. I would like to use 8208XBR or Varget. I live in Florida and hope to be able to use these against some nuisance pigs. If you were unaware it is HOT if florida, but I may work these up on a cooler day in the 70's, and might get to deer hunt in SC or KY this fall.

For brass I have a lot of LC and winchester once fired.

The gun is a daniel defense V11, 1-7" twist. My accuracy goal is 1.5" or less at 100yds and the more velocity the better for better critter control

I will work up my own load and will not copy yours, just looking for a hint at what worked for you all. I don't plan on buying 200 of these right away, so I'd like to get the load developed quickly and have 20 or 30 rds available to hunt with.

thanks

There are several sights available, As for Books... I have several, my favorite is probably the Lyman 50th. Hornady has a good book as well. I'm not a big fan of the Spear manual. I would recommend at least 2. There is a Vendow on MidwayUSA that has Comb Bound Manuals (By Caliber), they have lots of data and it is for a specific caliber. They have a section for Cast Bullets, and also a TC Section, they are less that $10 each. I like them as they are a quick reference, then if I have a question, I go to the Lyman or Hornady books.

Good Luck
Dan

Dgod, thanks for the response, sorry for the confusion, i am looking for someones load that shoots well for them. I have hornady 9th manual and hodgdons as well,

Anyone have any experience with the 70gr gmx?

No experience at all, but something to think about. With copper bullets you don't need that much weight. In a traditional lead bullet then I'd go that heavy. If your impact velocity drops below about 2000 fps you don't get any expansion with those and they act just like a FMJ. Most guys feel better at 2200 fps. Looking at load data near 3000 fps at the muzzle is possible with a 24" barrel. If you can get 2700-2800 from your shorter barrel I think the 70 gr bullets would be OK. If you're closer to 2500 fps at the muzzle those bullets won't expand very well down range. Only taking close range shots would be a good idea.

A solid copper bullet of any weight will likely give you a complete pass through on hogs or deer. A bullet in the 55-60 gr weight moving faster might be a better option with copper bullets.
