Has anyone used the new Hornady Superperformance ammo, and if so what cartridge and what were the results? I just got a box of 165gr sst's in 30-06 and I can honestly say I was not impressed. At 200 yds these rounds actually shot a wider group than the Hornady Custom 165gr SST's, 1.5 MOA vs .5 MOA.

The way I hear it hodgens created the new propellant and hornady kinda ran ran with it, Ive heard it works great with 25-06, but thats it.
Hornady makes great hunting rounds IMO but Ive been disappointed before, I think their Light Magnum idea was poorly thought out and super performance is starting to lean that direction.

Always remember that not every rifle is going to shoot Hornady's Superperformance ammo well. Just as a pet load in one rifle may scatter the same load in another rifle. You cannot say with certainty that all Superperformance ammo for '06 doesn't work. They push the higher velocity and energy aspect, and a 1.5" group at 100yds is more than adequate for a hunting load.
If you are truly serious about accuracy, you would reload instead of relying on factory ammo.

this is true but out of a 26 inch lilja barrel the hornady custom rounds are great, and I would reload but Ive deployed 3 times in 2 years and Im never home long enough to get a start on it. And as far as the 30-06 loads in super performance all my armorers and GMs share the same views I do, thats why I wanted to get info from other people on other calibers to see which ones worked and which ones didnt.

I used 150 grain 30-06 SST's for past three deer seasons. Have not lost a deer I shot yet. Never took more than one shot. Longest run was 100 yards on a misplaced shot (my fault not the gun or ammo). When sighting my rifle in I routinely shoot a .75-1.00 MOA group. However, like it has been said earlier, each gun/rifle prefers their own ammunition. This year I tried 165 grain Accupoint Remington and held a pattern that looked like a buckshot pattern (about 8-10" at 100 yards). My Remington 770 just loves 150 grains. I know it ain't the best rifle (and some consider it the worst) but it sure is a tack driver with this ammunition.
My Tikka T3 .270 win shoots them OK. I think about 1-1.5" at 100 yds. I will say they kick quite a bit more than 150gr Rem Core Lokt I was shooting that day. I thought that I read the recoil was the same, but this was definitley not the same. As they say, there is no free lunch.
I tried a box of the old Light Magnum one time in my father's 7mm-08 and was not duly impressed. The group sucked. His Model 7 shot the regular ol' Winchester 140's much better. I'd rather have a little lower velocity in a group than the highest velocity in a pattern.
What I do look forward to is the Superperformance in the 444. There's a lot of 444 shooters that want the Hornady 265 gr. FP 444 bullet in both a factory load and as a component to reload in preference to the gummy tip FTX bullet.

Gatornavy it is the Superformance SST's. I know you will hear some like it, some hate it, some can't group with it, and some could hit a dime wih it at 100 Yards. As I said above each rifle is different and prefers their own ammunition, kinda like a custom diet plan. This will hold true for each rifle and each type of ammo. This also holds true for different Lots of the same ammo. I just know what is currently working for me, but it was expensive to find. The only rifle that might be he exception is a Browning equipped with the BOSS that can be adjusted to shoot almost any ammunition really well. Remeber it's all about barrel harmonics.
