Two questions:

1) How accurate have people found the loaded ammo to be?

2) Does Hornady sell any of the TAP rifle bullets alone (and, if so, where?), or is it just available in loaded ammo? As an aside, I've heard that the TAP pistol bullets are simply the XTPs, which are available in component form (though there are better HPs available from other manufacturers).

Thanks all for your comments.

Bump for more comments...does anyone know for sure if Hornady's using the V-Max bullets in their TAP ammo? What is everyone's experience with the ammo's accuracy?

Thanks.

given Hornady makes the TAP ammo and it is a premium ammo...AND... Hornady makes VMAX premium bullets...its a safe bet they are one and the same

They're just V-max's with moly coating. You can buy moly coated V-maxes. WRT TAP ammo, the entire cartridge is moly coated. You can do this to, though it likely won't turn out as professional as the commercial stuff. The moly on the case is to help ensure feeding.

IMO, brass cases and copper bullets feed fine without moly coating.

They are also, depending on Gr., AMAX bullets. I use 155gr AMAX in my .308 AP4, and they work very well.

A-max's do work well for long range target shooting, as that is their purpose. However, for defensive use they will perform much like a FMJ. I can't see this being abenefit for PD.

Are we sure hornady has not used the interlock's or SST's for the TAP-FPD ammo in heavier weights?
