hot .25auto loads

Who list .25auto loads in the upper power level? GoldDot is only pushing there 35g at 950 were as the Glazer 35g safety slug is running @ 1100FPS!

I will mainly be loading 50g jacketed and 50ish grain cast. Can the 50's be pushed a little faster than 850fps? There isn't much load development for the .25 but with the advances in powders,pressure readings and what not i would think 950 would be possible with the right pressure curve/burn rate.

I will be shooting them out of quality guns like an Italian Beretta Bobcat and a Spain Colt/Astra Jr.(Mini 1911).

I don't want to go anything above listed info, but im just wondering how Glazer is achieving 150fps more in 35g. I would like to see what BuffaloBore could do. Shurely the 50g 850fps WWB plinking stuff isn't full power. I bet the European stuff is hotter.

The 35g safety slug at 1100FPS/94FTLBS is more like the ballistics out of a rifle(.22lr).Not bad for a 1-2" barrel.

Some old .25 ammo boxes i have(70s) are marked 2.3g Herco. That is .6g over the 1.7g max in my Lee 2nd Edition which leaves me to believe the older manuals were hotter or that guy was crazy. There is also a load chart with 1.4g Bullseye compared to the 1.3g in the Lee manual.

All of the LEE loads listed are around 15,000psi when sammi specs are 25,000psi. Where is the good stuff? I'm not asking for barn burners. Just something that will hold a candle to high quality factory SD ammo like Glaser but i would prefer a GoldDot,FMJ, or cast RN on top.

In the mean time i will make up some range fodder like this.

Vintage 70's Herters cases made in Finland
lead 50grain RN cast from a vintage 70's LYMAN 252435 .250 mold.

However Alliants load data shows 812fps with 1.3g Bullseye under 50g FMJ. The soft lead bullets I'm using should spit out even faster.

They also have a 35 gr HP load at 1040fps with 1.7g Bullseye that looks promising. I could get my mold modified to put out 35g HP slugs on one of the cavities. Should make for a nice close quarter combat vermin load.

I will also be using an old 70's LEE hand primer that doesn't accept loading trays for old times sake,and will be testing some of these rounds in my 70's Colt Jr...

A .25acp is just a .25acp.
It has very limited case capacity to make use of. I think Glaziers would be a handicap in that calibre.

But remember a .25 in the pocket beats a .45 at home, any day of the week.

I propose that someone develop a .25magnum. There`s a magnum in everything else. Why not .25acp? Have a high capacity magazine in it.

I love bottle necked pistol cartridges. The .25naa, a .32auto necked down to accept a .25auto bullet, is pretty neat but the .32naa is even better. A .380auto necked down to accept .32auto bullets. Technically you could neck down your own .32 and .380 cases with just a resizing die but the only gun available for them is the seecamp like NAA pistol. There was a SHORT run of .32nna barrels for the .380 Kel-tec.
