There's a gun show at the Reliant today and tomorrow. It's the gun collectors of america show. I was looking to buy a saiga this weekend, do you guys think they will have stuff like ar recievers, sks's, and said saigas?

Probally next to the beeny babies and beef jerky:evil: .......

Usually they will have a good selection and if you want an "American Made AK" look for the Global Trade Table.

Actually it's the "Houston Gun Collectors Association" (HGCA) show, and it is the biggest in Houston. Anything available in the US will be there, happy hunting, you can easily spend all day wandering around the tables.

oh yeah, they will have all that stuff. A word ... today is also the college east / west shrine game. the stadium is right next to the Arena, where the gunshow is. Parking will be.... i will be going to the gunshow tommorrow.

Anything available in the US will be there

Except ammo, and i beleive reloading components (powder, bullets, primers, ie the "makings of ammo")...

HGCA shows are bereft of these items. I've been told that this is for liability reasons. Supposedly if ammo is banned from the show, the HGCA can not be held liable for injuries from an ND that might result from some numbskull feeding his newly bought ammo into his newly bought gun while still in the show hall.
has to do with the ramifications if an "association" is sued as opposed to if the same happens to a corporation.

but for everything else you might want almost no matter how weird HGCA probably has it. the only place i've ever seen a 1941 Johnson rifle outside of a museum or picture, mush less for sale.

There was one major ammo vendor and a couple of smaller ones. Last HGCA show had "Ammo To Go" and "Outdoor Marksman" and a host of smaller ones. Seems they've changed the policy. Ammo To Go was there again today $219 for 1000 Aquila .45ACP ball, but I was way to far away to carry it. I hope they are at the Pasadena Show in two weeks and still have some at that price.

They need to get better organized selling tickets, line this morning was at least 200 yards long at 9:15AM. If you go enter from Fannin to park, I went in my normal way off Kirby and you couldn't drive across the lot, had a very long hike to Hall A after having been forced to park on the Hall E side :(

Saw some good stuff, Taurus PT-1911 for $469, execellent condition AK and AR 30 round mags for $10 (I got the last of the AKs unless he had more under his table :) ) Picked up very nice looking Colt Delta Elite 10mm for $600+tax But like all gun shows for every good deal there are half a dozen bad ones. Great for the odd stuff -- found some of the old Ramline 12-round Ruger MKII mags and a couple of mags for my Star BS (one was new in the Interarms blister package.

I didn't have enough time to see everything, just hit the regulars and looked for anything that jumped out at me -- like the Colt Delta Elite :)

Wish the Ammo to Go and OMC people would come up to the DFW shows. Rarely a good deal on ammo to be found for some reason.

Seems they've changed the policy.

NOW you tell me!
since my wife is working this weekend and the next few major purchases of "guns" Vs "gun stuff i can get anytime" are for her, cheaper ammo or maybe a higher than 60% chance of a deal that went "sure I'll take that Khan 28ga (decent low end O/U)+that 3/4 case of ammo for it, and (some fairly low to no amount of money) for this 9mm Stoeger Cougar 8000 your wife wants" (ie an "in my dreams" deal) are the ONLY things that would have tipped the balance to get me to drive up to houston in the crappy weather (no one hear knows how to drive in the weather!!), and pay Reliant's parking fees, as well as the gate fee for the show, instead of hitting the range in the rain today. and tommorow i won't have a chance to get up to Houston. :banghead:

Oh well i know now so the next HGCA show i WILL being going to if humanly possible.

You can try their web site, ammunitiontogo.com They are out of Brenham, don't know how much shipping would be, but if you can get their schedule for next time they are at the Pasadena show, free parking!

I wish they'd just move the GRB convention center shows where parking is also expensive and usually far away to the Pasadena convention center where parking is free and close!

I agree wholehartedly, sad thing is that it's getting to where the "firearms related vendor" turn out for both is just about the same. kinda weird to see just as many sellers at a smaller venue like pasadena as at a venue like GRB. course i'm biased i grew up used to shows that seemed to fluctuate between just under the size of the HGCA shows to nearly 40-50% or more larger, over at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh NC.
was Unimpressed to say the least first time i hit a show here in TX, (which was i think the last HGCA while it was still the AstroHall, right after i got married), was kinda like "this is Texas B'God! where's the REST of the show?!? :scrutiny: whatta ya mean this is it?? i spent two days convincing my wife to go with me "cause it'll be fun", so that she'd drive up to and within houston since i was new in the area, paid $7 to park, and $7 to get in the door and and still have lunch to buy, and THIS IS ALL THERE IS!!" :banghead:
the guy with the table(s) loaded with a collection consisting of what seemed like every variation i could think of, of High Standard Supermatics was the only thing that kept me from a migrane. (need "drooling smiley")
