How about a specifically 1911 discussion section?

Hmm.. while I'm always up for 1911 support, I honestly think we have enough forums to go through. Realistically, I love how much traffic the autoloader forum gets, seems this forum rivals the rifle forum in views, and I'd like to keep that going. I would hate to have both forums not gain as much traffic anymore due to splitting the 1911s and the rest of the autoloaders, cuz I'm sure I'd spend all my time at the 1911 section! :D

For pure 1911 talk, I'll reserve my time to the 1911forum, my vote is to keep it as it is.

Novel idea though! :)
 
If I didn't know better, I'd suspect a conspiracy. :) I think 1911forum deserves some competition, personally. We 1911 folks need a break from the heavy handed moderating that goes on over there. Could be worth a try, no?
 
Well, ours would not be by make, but by the general category of 1911s. That would be only one new category for this site, but I think it would be very active considering the interest in this design. I think something like half of all auto pistols sold are of the 1911 design. That's got to say something for it deserving seperate recognition.

As it stands, THR people who are into 1911s really have to go over to 1911forum. I can't stand it over there, personally. And it seems that I am not alone in this. If we had a category for 1911s, I bet a lot of THR 1911 people would hang out here instead.
 
I agree.I just received some rude,uncalled for comment and locked thread on the F/S section over there.A 1911 section here would be nice.
 
+1 for Black Majik. There are already enough forums on THR, no need for a 1911-specific forum (although I'm a huge fan of the platform ;) ).
 
Why a specific 1911 section? Next the Glock fans will want their own section because there are a lot of Glock discussions. S&W fans may want a specific revolver section. There are specific forums to handle the various handguns whether you like how they are run or not.
You can always start your own forum and set your own rules.

Now you mention everyone wanting their own forums, this reminds me of the mess of forums over at Glocktalk!

1911 forums, glock forums, beretta forums, 9mm forums, filipino forums, .40 S&W forum, 10mm forum, 10mm reloading forum, Glock 17 forum, knife forum, business forum, young shooters forum, how to roast prime rib forum... that place is messier than my room! :eek: :D

One key difference between it and 1911Forum is that M1911.ORG has rules for the moderators as well as for the participants. Moderating is generally (IMHO, as a moderator) pretty even-handed. There are several members here who also participate and even moderate over there. Check it out, if you haven't already done so.
