as i mentioned regarding primers... i am, for better or for worse, married to cci for now. so i just don't have much flexibility, there. more's the pity.
i reworked the load today using rl-17. i found a load that i am satisfied with. it isn't as accurate as the 4350 load, but my velocity is running 3135 f/s and single digit sd's. since i was loading at the range, i was able to test a bunch of loads, and proof out my best load. no unexpected pressure excursions. i took the load up to 3300 f/s, which was too hot, and settled on my accuracy load, which should be plenty good enough to kill whatever needs killing at whatever range it needs killed at.
just got done annealing the cases, sized them, and they are in the tumbler now. now that the weather is warming up (getting into the high 60's tomorrow - 10 degrees warmer than today when i worked up my load - i will have ample opportunity to see how rl-17 performs in hot weather, and see if there are any further nasty pressure surprises.
btw... love loading at the range. i ran a ladder test, went back and shot a couple groups w/ the charges indicated by the ladder, ran a proving group w/ the best performer, put a couple more between the sticks just to be sure, sighted the gun in, couple more groups to be sure, then a couple groups just for fun... no way in tarnation could i have done that in one day if i had to go back home (4-5 miles) load the cases and go back. kinda cool... every time i needed more ammo, i just turned in my seat and stuffed some more cases.
