If the optic has been bore sighted, I shoot a 3 round group and measure from the center of the group to the aim point, and then make the adjusting clicks and then fire another 3 round group. I usually have it on target in no more than 8 or nine shots and sometimes as few as 5 shots.

we use a vice,,,fire 1 shot,,,zero to tha shot,,1 mo shot,,,,,fine tune,,,but we hillbillys do some things differant,,,,works for us

When putting a new scope on I go to the 25yd and shoot at a very small dot one shot then adj my scope to that spot then shoot 3 rounds to set it I set it a 1/2 low then to the 100yd to fine tune it.
