This is a Smith and Wesson 66-3 that I just recently received. It has about 1200 rounds through it. The 66 is in beautiful shape, It locks up very nicely. It comes with the original box with unused cleaning kit. It even has the wax paper It came in when it was brand new. It has all the papers. It has the original wood grips that are in amazing condition, It also has after market grips. The gun is missing the thumb piece latch which I did order and is now fixed, My question is this. How much could I get for this gun If I were to sell it? Would a Springfield xd, Beretta Px4 or any kind of Glock in 9mm be a fair trade?
Thanks in advanced guys, BTW the thumb piece latch is fixed and is on the gun if you notice it missing in the pics.

Most likely if you sold it on gunbroker.com you would get $600-$700 for it. I certainly wouldn't let it go for less than $600 and I wouldn't trade it in on anything because you'll loose too much.

List it on gunbroker or sell it privately somewhere and you'll easily get enough for it to buy a brand new PX4, XD or Glock.

Nice gun.

Found these which might give you an idea of what to ask for it....

I was going to say 650. I just sold a 66-3 on GunsAmerica with box in near the same condition as yours for that much. It did not have the magna grips though it did have what I would call a nice set of Uncle Mikes that may have original.

Locally, that 66 snubbie would bring $550.......rather quickly too!

On the auction boards, $600.....maybe a little more. TJ

I just paid $419 for a Mod. 66 No-Dash, square butt, pinned and recessed, 2.5", in as nice of shape, no box, missing the original grips and wearing Pachmayrs.

I would guess that should go for $500-$600.

Personally if I want a S&W 357 K-frame I want pinned & recessed which the 66-2 and above are not; but it IS prelock.

If I may,
Why would you buy or trade into a revolver like that and trade it for a Glock? :what:I would keep the Smith and buy a Glock or what ever 9mm turns you on.

I must apologize. I just re read my reply and it sounds like I'm a real A Hole doesn't it?.:scrutiny: I'm old school and don't understand these new or hyper rounds. Don't get me started on the short belted magnums. You know like the 300 Win mag and so on. What was wrong with the full size one.

Oh, I also own several Glocks and my CCW is a G 30.

I think it's just a vote to keep it and buy a 9. :D Those short barrel K frames are all the rage down here and the price on a used one is a might ridiculous. I saw a used short barrel 686 a while back, round butted, at a gun shop. I didn't even know such a thing existed. Heck, might have been some gunsmith special or something, but looked really cold and had a price of $385 on it. I shoulda bought it, but I've been in an economic slump for a while I'm only now diggin' my way out of, so it went to someone else. *sigh*

Man I hear that. I just picked up a Ruger Speed Six the otherday and out here in Colorado thay are up around the $500 mark.

This thread has caused me to want a Glock so I may trade you for that Smith.

No Problem Jay Lazy. I take any and all advice. If I do get rid of it I would most likely end up selling it, but it would have to be a good offer. BTW Jay that Ruger is beautiful.

I see the 66 going in the $400 range. But it depends on the local and may bring more.

Geeeeeez.... $600-$700 for a post P&R 66? Wow. Most S&W lovers find the earlier models more desirable, what are THEY bringing?

I was going to say $400 +/- so what do I know?
