I just bought a Stag Arms 556 that had these front and rear sights already installed. The windage is easy. The elevation is a pain. I must be doing something wrong. The front site has this detent pin that must be pushed down, then the square post rotated while holding the pin down. The only thing I have found that will fit between the circular blades of the front sight is a pair of hemostats. This looks like what I have. http://www.cgwgun.com/Iron-BUIS-Sights/Midwest-Sight-Front-Forearm-BUIS__MCTAR-FFR.aspx

Any Ideas?

You can buy a sight adjustment tool to help but many people just find a way using two finishing nails, bullet tips or something like you're doing. Usually mechanical zero (the sight base flush to the FSB shelf) is within a few clicks of final zero. If you have to screw it in or out much more than that something else might be wrong, maybe the rear sight.

Front sight post tools are handy. Call local gun shops to see if they are in stock locally. Beats paying shipping on a $6 tool. Be advised, some of these tools are cheap, and will require some filing of the prongs to get them to fit into the reliefs on the front sight post.

If you can't find one, then keep doing what you're doing. Apply pointy object to front sight post, and cuss at it until it moves the direction you want (you'll get better at it, don't worry). A drop of CLP under the post helps things move a bit.

post sight adjustment

Gentlemen,
I have a Ishapore Lee Infield SMLE, and a Mosin Nagant both of which are shooting about 1 inch to the right at 100 yards. I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to acquire an affordable tool that moves the post sights on these weapons. I have read that some use a hammer, punch and lead ingot for this purpose...... seems like that could take forever. I just acquired a Kar98k. I can see where I could encounter the same problem with it. I found a place in New Zealand that makes post sight tools for all of the Lee Enfields and the Springfield 1903 , and they advertise that they can make the tool for k 98's and K 31's but the each tool is $55.00 plus shipping. Help please!
