Has anyone tried conventional wood checkering tools on glock grips? Just curious

Yes - the results are suboptimal... there’s no good way to “carve” the polymer, such you’re left with a LOT of wasted time with an exacto blade trimming feathers. If a guy converted a checkering cutter to use resistive heat - basically convert it into a hot iron cutter, you MIGHT be able to push a decent checker, but honestly, I can see a lot of issues with making that work too - the cross cutting would be a disaster.

Varminterror is right not worth the effort, Stippling is the best way to go. grip tape does the job but over time starts becoming undone with the adhesive backing.
