Hello,

Is anyone able to post a photo of what a rifle on sandbags looks like for setting up a new scope? I would like to set mine up when the box gets here : ) it is for a .22 (marlin 60).

Thank you!

Are you using the one long one, or two small ones?

Pretty much as long as you don't rest the barrel on anything you will be fine.

I haven't bought or built any bags yet. I might just use some old pillow cases and a 3 dollar bag of sand from home depot?

i'd use a section of the leg of an old pair of jeans before i used something like a pillow case. it'll be much less likely to snag on a nail or splinter on the bench and rip.

just get a purpose-built sandbag. They are cheap at Academy or any other sporting goods store.

Just make sure only the stock is resting on the bag, and nothing is touching any part of the barrel, not even your hand.

For quick & dirty sighting in a .22?
An old gym bag full of dirty underwear & socks will work as good as sandbags.

I often use my range bag or rolled up coat for the front rest, and my fist for the rear rest.

All it needs to do is take your shakes & wobbles out while you squeeze of each sighter shot.

Sand bags are not "magic" unless you can already shoot real well of an improvised rest anyway.
