Here's my experience in case anyone was considering these.
Out of 5 stars:
Cost - 5 $53 shipped from Overstock.com
Value - 5 For the money, you get alot of features that work well
Durability - Unk So far so good. They say they are water resistant and seem to be well made but I've only had them a short while and haven't dropped them yet.
Function - 5 I tried them head to head (no pun intended) with the silencio non electronic muffs of the same NRR (noise reduction rating). The Howard Leights take away the sharp crack of the .223 very well. Much more so than the standard muffs. They work great fo keeping a conversation while not shooting. I can keep them on and they are right on top of the noise if someone sends one down range. They go silent in time to protect the ears and return to amplification quickly. Also, they are thin at the lobe so you can shoulder a long gun, this is a nice feature and works well.
Comfort - 4.5 While very light with a wide headband and soft padding, they feel like they don't touch my head around the bottom of my ears. This is really just a personal issue as they still effectively block noise.
Extra comments - These are good for mowing the lawn, using power tools, and hunting so I will get lots of use out of them. They have an input jact for an MP3 player but it's mildly useful so don't buy them if you want hi-def tunes. They fold up nicely for a range bag and look good on the head. I wish they came with a case but not expected at the price.
I have used just about every kind of protection out there in all price ranges and I must say the Howard Leights hold their own and even beat most others. Because they're rated for 22Db NRR I still use foamies under them but that is always good practice anyway.
Overall rating would be 4.9 (don't do the average and correct me)
