I know that cheap hulls are rarely worth dealing with but I have been given over 500 remington hulls I cannot ID. One is 20 gauge yellow low brass 6 sided crimp 2 3/4 length. It is all plastic (no paper basewad) marked 2 3/4"-70 mm up the side and 2 1/2-7/8-8 across the top. The second is 12 gauge black low brass 8 sided crimp 2 3/4 length. All plastic marked same as 20 gauge up the side and 3 1/2-1-8 across the top. Both are brass plated steel heads. Any help with ID will let me use these for casual shoots at family get togethers where many are lost and so I am not out of anything getting one reload then discarding or losing them.

For 12 Gauge: A (recent manufacture) Remington hull is a Rem Hull is a Rem Hull is Rem Hull. The load data for STS/Nitro/etc. is interchangeable. The only difference I've seen is hull life. Blue Peter's last the longest, and STS/Nitro's last longer then the Black/Green hulls.

For 20 Gauge: the only difference I've seen is the paper base wad, I use the appropriate load data for those hulls.

Check your manuals (available from the manufacturers via internet downloads and/or snail mail.)

I also tend to load to lower end of the pressure data for our loads. There is supposed to be a new Lyman's manual out sometime this year (Yes, we've heard that every year. The Website states Mid-February, which is now !!! But rumor has it that they've push it back to June/July.), that has more up-to-date load and hull info.
