Hunting gear for cold weather?

As far as socks, go with WrightSock. They are a dual layer sock. The inner layer wicks moisture away to keep your feet dry. They make several different types. I use their merino wool versions year round. A lot of runners and hikers use them because you will not get blisters with them. I am not a believer in big bulky socks to keep your feet warm. In reality they do just the opposite in most cases. I work outside and it's common for temps to be in the low 20s here in the winter. Just wanted to add some more info for socks because there are a huge variety and they are not all created equal.

I have years of experience hunting, ice fishing, and guideing in Northern Ontario. The coldest I have personally seen was -68f with a wind factor of around -85f.

Poly undies like Hot Chillies and the Cabelas Thermamax.

Layers with atleast one wool outer layer.

Cover your head, hands, face, and eyes when below 10f. Frostbite can take minutes in any kind of wind.

The Heater suit as mentioned on pg1.

I made my own "over boots" from GI surplus wool blanket. Simply cut into large triangle shape and pin together with safety pins. Mine are four layers thick and keep my feet toasty warm. Make them so you slide your booted foot in from the rear side and fold over a 1.5 inch flap. The OD green color is a natural camo, too.
