so let's say i have a decent chunk of private land in a national forest (east TN) that i wanted to make a few bucks on. where would I go to advertise this? iow, where would you go to look for land to hunt on?

American Hunter just did an article on www.outdooraccess.com . It is service where you can register your land, and people can lease it from you online for hunting/recreational purposes. You can set the terms and they can lease it for a day or a season etc, and it sounds like you make it first come first served so if you do the daily lease thing you can give sole access to that person that day. Pretty interesting concept, that is just getting started, I'm not sure how much stuff they have in TN but it reads like they want to offer properties all over the country.

Advertise in your local version of Woods and Water or similar outdoor paper. If you are wanting to have folks pay you to hunt your land, I would first consult an attorney about liability issues, hold harmless clauses, etc.

thanks guys!

it's quite mountainous. i am sure there are deer on it, but there are definitely bear. it's in one of the bear reserves, but there are limited hunts.
i don't want to do guided stuff, but how many acres per person do you think i'd need?

There is a gentleman at my work that owns a white tail real estate company. I know he is not the only one. Someone like that would probably want a decent cut.

If you know a real estate agent, they seem like they are everywhere, get the property listed for sale on the MLS and onto a site like zillow.com. that is where I would start.

Both Double Naught Spy and I are members of a Texas hunting forum and there are tons of ads for such places. Tennessee also has a hunting forum which may be a great place to advertise.

Yep I just checked that out. Very helpful suggestions. Thanks

Do not forget about what I said above as to covering you ASSets with some kind of liability release; if someone gets hurt or killed on your land, the lawyers will be going after you along with anyone else.
