I just bought 40 of land near Winnemucca. On one side my piece of property borders BLM land. So if you count the BLM land I have plenty of room to hunt speed goats, mule deer, coyotes and jack rabbits. Other than obtaining a copy of the regulations from the NV dept of wild life I'm kind of flying blind. The extend of my hunting experience is one trip calling coyotes here is Southern California. ( boy was that a fun time). My next 4 day break from my job I am going up there to try and knock off a few coyotes and spend those 4 days exploring the area. Anyway Just wanted to drop in and say hello. Other than the regulations ( I can read those on my own) if you have any tips tricks opinions and such I'm all ears

Used to live there - which side of the river are you on? Some of the areas have been built up enough that shooting can be compromised due to the closeness of the other folks - even with 40 acres. North towards Paradise is decent mulie country.......antelope would be further north and west towards the Sheldon range; the better elk country is towards Ely. There used to be (and may still be) a good gun club north of the river/interstate. I would look at joining that - you'll find some nice folks with good tips for what you want to do.

For coyotes, I would wait until winter when it's cold so you can sell the pelts to pay for more guns......

Winnemucca is a nice town - you'll like it

Fun doings around Winnemucca. A buddy and I got into the middle of a population explosion of jackrabbits, many years ago. Lots of good shooting. Interesting country up around King Lear Peak on the east side of the Black Rock Desert. West side of the Black Rock on the dirt road through the antelope refuge, there's a neat little ghost town...Saw a bunch of chukars.
