I was wondering.... how much would one of these run me in good condition.

My dad got one from his dad, shot it, gun is 100% on any cheap ammo you load it with, love the look. But it's a little.... older. My dad shot it when he was a kid, and it had been around for awhile before that.

So what do woodsman/ huntsman .22s run? Want to add one to my collection. Before I inherit the other one.

They range from around $300. up into the $2000. area depending on model and condition.

There are similar Colt models under several names - Challenger, Huntsman, Targetman, Match Target, Woodsman, and maybe more.

You're right to like them. I've got a couple in the two barrel lengths and they are amongst both my wife's and my favorite casual shooters. Great little classy pistols of a type that really isn't made anymore.

I bought this 6" Challenger in GB maybe a year ago for right around $400. Challengers are usually cheaper. They were the 'economy' model and don't have a slide lock. They also use plastic grips, fixed sights, and a bottom mag release instead of the pushbutton 1911 type of the more expensive models.

krs...Only the 2nd generation Colt Woodsman had the magazine release behind the trigger.

Aka Zero...If you find one, any one of the four or five variations of the Woodsman, you will be very pleased with it's performence. Mine is my wife's favorite and she has her own handguns. I used it to train all my five kids and now use it to teach my grandchildren...A most enjoyable and accurate .22 auto...

I am in love with mine,I inherited it and even thought about selling it when someone told me what it was worth but this thing is the most reliable best feeling and frankly lovable 22 pistol I have ever shot.

I paid 400 bucks for my like new 3rd generation Target Woodsman and 600 for a like new Match Target Woodsman a few years ago. Now if I can just find a nice Sport Woodsman to round out the 3rd generation collection.

Collectors' Firearms in Houston has an extremely nice Challenger for $425. In my limited experience, their prices are a tad on the high side. This one looks very nice. They also have a selection of Huntsmen in the ballpark. Challenger and Huntsman filled the same marketing niche for Colt. I'm sorely tempted to choose one, but last spring I found a 1933 Woodsman Sport (short barrel) at the George R. Brown gun show for $469 OTD. The gun has a beautiful patina, came with 2 magazines, and is mechanically perfect. The Woodsman is my favorite gun of all time.

I have one of these and I was wondering were I would be able to get new grips or a place that can refinish the stock ones?
