I am looking for a quality scope in the $1000-$2000 price range for my M1A National Match. While the S&B, Zeiss, Swavorski, Khales, Nightforce etc. are all contenders a guy in my office recommended the Huskemaw 5 x 20 scope.
He has 3 of them on different rifles and swears they are the best value for the money. This is a guy that has scopes in the several thousand dollar range on some of his rifles and he has experience and lots of comparison shopping. I have been a shooting enthusiast for over 40 years and I have never heard of them.

I am intrigued. Does anyone have any experience or opinions about them?

I read the articles on them before, but it has been a while

This is my take - I am not a hunter anymore.

The scope supposedly makes doping the wind and range easy. The hard part of doping the wind and range is determining the range and the wind value. Lets say you nail the range - the drop should be the easy part. Now the wind is the real problem. How do you set a value on the wind between you and target. Oversimplifcation is you make your best estimation and go with that.
Either drop or drift can be looked up on your chart. But it is error in error out. So a range finder, wind meter and some homework on prevailing conditions and way to cheat on ranging might be better. As far as optics and tracking some of the other stuff you listed is proven and in a similar price range.

I would like to hear his explanation of what makes it better. Supposedly the dial correlates directly to range and windage. I am not a fan of BDC reticles or calibrated knobs. I have never owned any so take it with a grain of salt. My dislike is if you change a variable like ammo you bdc may be off.

Again my perspective is more from a target shooting mindset.

You can range with other reticles, but it is not foolproof and requires some practice. IE I am not good at it.
