I have got my new bullet sizer/ luber and am wondering if its age will affect the way it works. The sizer is a Ideal lubricator and sizer on the handle it says May 13 1892 which I take to be a pattent date. The question is who makes dies that can be used in it. What is the price? And what sort of lube should I use with it. TheLyman cast bullet handbook says it used Banana lube. I assume the the press being cast irion it would have to be a fairly soft lube. So if you can help please help.

God Bless

Lyman is still in business. Midway and the other distributors carry their products.
I think a current sizing die, base punch and nose punch - listed as G,H,I dies - would fit.
I'd get a stick lube that did not require heating.

Does it look like this ? http://home.comcast.net/~imashooter2/Lyman_45.pdf
Before you use it I'd disassemble it and and remove all the old lube that has hardened. Like others have said Midway & Graf have all the dies. For missing parts contact Lyman. I've had a Lyman 45 since the 1970's and it has worked fine for me especially for gas check bullets..
