I have the 5.45x39 upper, NEED MAG'S

Well, I finally got my ar15 upper in 5.45 x 39, but I cannot find any mags that will feed this ammo........NEED HELP BAD
 
The story seems to be that standard AR mags will work if downloaded to 27 rounds or so.

I've never tried it myself, though, so don't know how well they run.
 
I have read thread after thread on several other sites and there is one company that is supposed to be making a mag for that round to fit the AR. CProduct is the company, but everytime I call, they seem to be 2 to 3 months out of production......so who knows....I have tried a couple different brand .223 - 5.56 mags and they dont feed. The round hits the front well of the mag and jams....:cuss:......

Just to clarify, do you mean you can't find special mags that fit this? Or you can't find regular AK-74 mags? I would assume they would make this rifle compatible with regular 74 mags. Or did they not want to make things easy? :confused:
 
Do you have a picture of it jammed up.

The followers are different between the AK-74 mag and the AR mag, as you would expect.

This shows how to mod a 5.45 follower for .223, you may need to mod the AR follower to be more like the 5.45 follower:

See the dark part that is the built up portion for the flatter .223...

I think you may need to put something on your AR follower at the front to get the nose opf the rounds up a tad.
 
Let me start by appologizing, I bought an upper in 5.45 x 39, I built the lower and wanted the upper in this caliber. A friend of mine had this upper and he warned me about the mag situation.

Today I got my hands on a CProduct 6.8 mag with a black follower.......it is a 30 rd mag and 20 fit just fine and feed fine......can you say "SWEET"
 
Yes, I know S&W is supposed to be making some. I have the prices, but none of my distributors have any :(
 
aloha: did you see that rsr has a listing, allthough not in stock, for a s&w 5.45x39 complete rifle? its $772.28. Item# SW811003

when im in rsr and searching, i have to type in "545x39" to get results. a search for "5.45x39" shows nothing.
 
Most likely S&W, as they are making an upper like that. (which would make it bushmaster)

Not likely to my knowledge not a single S&W upper has shipped yet. I've been keeping close tabs and my order was placed back in March or earlier April. Last word is the hold up is now the magazines (or specifically followers).
