Took my cleaned up M43 to the range today with 2 boxes of Lellier & Bellot. Stupid me, I thought i'd shoot one box and save the other... WRONG lol.

Theres nothing like the sound of rifle fire in an un-seasonal afternoon. Especially the guy at the very end of the range firing a darn 50 cal lol. Set up at the range, had to move the chair (hate being left handed) and proceeded to fire my new rifle (Darn one at a time rule was killing me though, wanted to load all 5 and shoot but oh well)

Never been to a raneg before so I was a little nervous on proper etiquette with the shell casings and the such. But I loaded my rifle, sat in the chair, ligned up on the site and pulled the trigger. I haven't shot a real rifle since I was about 11 years old but the feeling of that gun jumping back into my shoulder made me really smile. Fired off the first box and was getting ready to go when I thought better of it, sat back down and loaded up the rounds from the next box.

Best money I've spent in quite awhile. Now I'm off to Wally-world for a set of ear protectors (cotton balls didn't cut it) some more cleaning supplies, a set of good binoculars (forgot them so didn't get a chance to see if I actually hit the target) and maybe some more ammo, don't know yet :)

You would have cried had you seen the dudes at my range today with all sorts of AR's with every doo-dad imaginable, including suppressors, lasers, scopes, lights, etc. And that was on one rifle. They laid down some serious lead, really fast. No one shot or shooter at a time either, not by a long shot.

The cost of their rails, alone, must have been in the thousands of $$. It was an impressive spectacle.

One had an awesome laser, barely noticed among the scope and red dot and Surefire and other stuff hung on the rifle, that would reach out 100's of yds. That made a fast shooting and accurate machine. There were Aimpoints, Eotechs, scopes, lasers, and so much other stuff I could barely keep up with it all.

Obviously, these guys had to be single. I've never seen anything like it.

I did a similar thing with ammo on Saturday. The wife and I took her 10/22 rifle to sight in the scope, and my Springfield Armory SAR-8 and a Norinco MAK-90. I let her shoot all the guns, and I just stuck with the big-guys. I took 400 rounds of ammo, total, and we went home with none. I was expecting to save a few 308 rounds, but the wife was really getting a kick out of shooting the AK and SAR at 100 yrds with iron sights. We are hoping to go back this weekend......with more ammo, this time. :D

Can never read proper script unless it's my own lol, looked like an L. Anyway I wasn't really aiming that time, just firing it for feel. This weekend however (My birthday and if anyone has a KAR98 they'd be willing to send as a present ;) lol) I'll be shooting for accuracy

Been reading up on handloading as well, so I'll be sure to save the brass lol

There actually is a law that forbids you from bringing ammo back from a range trip,so good thing ya shot it all up.!

There ISN'T???!!!

Well,there SHOULD BE!!! :)

Sounds like ya had fun,but next time try to hit more than 'the range'.

Jay,

It sounds like you have been reunited with an old friend (the shooting sports).
Even if you are just out plinking, it is still fun.
Keep on shooting and have fun!!

Jim

I was expecting something along the lines of:

I hit the range today

...with my car.

I saw a guy back his car right into the roof support one time. Didn't appear to hurt anything...

I'm hoping Monday is a nice day, the range is only open Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays that fall on Mondays. Have some Yugo surplus ammo coming in soon hopefully, gonna be shooting quite a bit more then 40 rounds this time lol
