I just put a down payment on a 3" m65

My local gun shop has some trade in 3 inch round butt m65. They said they are from the nc dept of corections. They had 5 left. 2 were in vgc in the orginal box. The other 3 had some wear but were still in good condition. 3 had the orginal wood grips and 2 had aftermarket grips. I picked one of the one that were still in the box. The gun dosent look like it has hardly been fired. It does not have any flame cutting or any soot around the cylinder face or around the forcing cone. Very nice trigger :) . I got it for 269 plus tax. I can not wait until i get it home. How did I do? If any body is intrested ther store is Southern Firearms in Greensboro NC. They still have 4 left as of today.

The Model 65 with 3" bbl is the PREMIER concealed carry defensive revolver.

Have fun with it.
 
Oooh, you did good! :D Curious though, what dash # is it? If you don't know what I'm talking about, open the cylinder and look at the flat part of the frame under the the barrel. There should be the # 65 followed by another # such as 65-3.

Or if you want, post the serial # like this AEW12XXX and one of us can tell you when it was made.
 
Thanks for the tip. When I called this afternoon the fellow I talked to said he was wrapping up a sale for one right then, and he had three left. He also said they would be getting some more next week.

Looks like I may have to drive over to Greensboro next week!
 
SSteven... great gun, great price. You did well indeed. In fact it was getting a 65-5 that put me on a heavy road of S&W collecting! This is the gun that got me hot to trot:

That's a great price. Local shop here (Palmetto Firearms) has some of those 3 inch M65s. I *think* it's owned by the same guy who owns Southern Firearms.

Price here is $299, bit high IMHO, but not out of line.

That might have been me.... I ordered the best two he had left... :D that morning.

A big thanks to ssteven1 for the tip. For those interested the sales manager did say they where getting more in this week, as Doug indicated.

AL Thompson: I believe your right, the guy I talked to indicated they have three stores.
