I've asked about these guns before, but I'm having a hell of a time finding the threads.

First, I have a WWII issue P.38. It has the original holster which is marked with "gxy1943", "P38" and "WaA 135". The Pistol is marked with "WaA 135", "P.38", "byf 44", "5095 e" and both have the Nazi eagle and swastica stamped on them. The gun is very clean and has almost no wear. I have no idea how many times it's been fired and the holster has some wrighting on it from the soldier who brought it back with him. I'm wondering about the gun's potential value.

Second, How can I purchase a Rock Island Armory 1911 .45ACP?

P-38s at my local gun shops are going for about $450-$500. Admittedly, I'm not too interested in them and have never inspected them to see if they where originals or repros.

The holster by itself is probably worth 2-3 hundred dollars if it is orginial to the gun and in decent shape.

The cheap P-38's you see for sale now are not WWII bring-backs, and for the most part are West German police surplus guns.

Post war P38s have an aluminum frame.
Nazi Prewar and wartime p38s have a steel frame.
