I have shot trap seriously for about 47 years, 44 of them with an 870 TB I bought in '72, when little brother bought his TC (he made more money than I did). I shot that thing a lot since, even running slugs for deer, steel for ducks, and game loads for, well, game. It let me down several times, once with a crystallized trigger part during a club championship shootoff, again a year later with a broken firing pin during another shootoff, and a couple years later developed a crack in the receiver. Last year, with a vintage receiver, the left action bar broke during an interclub match. I'm not complaining.....there have been around 250K rounds through this thing. My problem is backups. I have an 870 Wingmaster Magnum with TC wood, another Wingmaster with Classic trap wood, and my brothers TC. I average 96% in league at two clubs.
Oh, yeah. I picked up a Superposed Lightning a couple years back.
Do I have enough backup guns. I'm in my mind 70s.
Dear Abby, should I sell it all and get fitted for a Kolar? All that is left of my "Tibby" is the buttstock and barrel.
