Talking with a guy on the phone that is wanting to sell a stainless 6" (he thinks) 629. I could not find out if it is one of the dash models or not, the guy simply doesn't know guns.
What is a resonable price for such to start hagling?
Wanted to know before making the trip to meet him
Thanks guys.

There is a very wide market for a used 629. Lock/no lock, modern PC gun or not. Post -94 with rubber grips, or before that with no MIM and real wood stocks?

I would be interested at $400, and after that it depends upon the stocks, dash number, barrel length, condition (usually good on a stainless, so that's not that important), etc.

He should at least be able to swing open the cylinder and read the model number off the frame? And tell you what the stocks look like? Put a ruler against the front of the cylinder to see how long the barrel is? That's not too much to ask.

Your range is from $425 for a "good" condition 8 3/8" with a lock and rubber grips, up to $1000 for an excellent 3" "Lew Horton" from the mid 80's with original exotic wood combat grips.

OK got a little more information.
It is a 629-3 with rubber grips, either pachmayer or Hogue.

Also does the 629-3 have the internal lock?
