apmilton: Sir; Ruger handguns are some of the finest built. The Vaquero is in a class by itself; comparative to its class; At this time Ruger has the newest Vaquero line; it should not be confused with a couple years ago model. Confused? There are three models of; Vaquero, New Vaquero, New Vaquero.
The Newest is built on a smaller frame. It doesn't appear to have the strength? of the others.[i.e. ability to withstand Ruger only loads] For 'cowboy' shooting some of the shooters are looking for the ?older? models. For the newest version standard ammo and you will be good to go. I stand to be corrected for my vocabulary i.e.strength, older. Thats okay. I don't know/have a wording.
