I plunged my hands into the Leprechaun's pot, only to find fools gold.

I called my local recycler, and his response was stunning, to say the least. First, brass is $.70 a pound. No, if it's CARTRIDGE brass it's only $.40 a pound and they must all be DEPRIMED! Say what, even dead primers? Yeap. Second rudest person I ever talked to on the phone, right behind Jennifer the collection agent from 10 years ago.
ANyone else run into this? Closest OTHER recycler is in freaking Coolidge, many miles away.

The recycler I use is more than happy to take fired cases, and will even accept fired primers by themselves. Surprising how fast primers weight up. Little over a year ago I turned just shy of $1000.00 worth of emptys.

Locally, .60 to 1.60 for "yellow brass".

Cases are "yellow Brass". They were trying to rob you.

Google 'Scrap Yellow Brass Prices + local"

Not to steal thread, but recyclers here won't take brass cases either. I have a few pounds I would like to turn into $$ for more reloading supplies. Anybody know of a place in Alabama maybe??

Pulled head out of rear end, used real magnet - those six berdan primed liars are brass washed steel. GAH!, Sorted them out of the brass bucket and tossed them in the trash.

Yep, it was a real Homer moment.
Speaking of, local business has a giant 4 story Homer inflated, complete with donut...to sell cars...I don't get the connection.
1SOW, I might have taken 60 cents, kicking myself for not going when they offered 80 cents a years or so ago.

My will take any thing and ammo brass is 1.59$ a pound last time I went about 3 mounths ago . but with any recycler prices on some stuff has a price swing do to demand.

There are several metal salvage places around San Antonio, so maybe competition keeps them a mostly honest.
