I want a wheel gun--and I know you guys can help me.

I need something more than my beloved Glock 17 for range use out to 25yds. I'm incredibly proficient with my G17, shooting 1 hole groups out to 35 feet with boring consistency, even with my combat sights (XS sights standard dot). I could have the slide milled Bomars and have Bar-Sto fit a barrel, but my G17 would then lose some of its utility. And frankly, that's a lot of scratch for my combat "tool".

I want big holes, adjustable sights, and sculpted steel set off by beautiful grips. I want a crisp single action trigger that will make me smile, and a light double action for toppling bowling pins. What do you revolverites suggest?

Sounds like you're ready to own an N Frame, in either .45 caliber.

625 V-comp (hard to beat it for bowling pins)

Good Luck...

Ditto the Smith and Wesson choice. Personally, I prefer mid-caliber, so would recommend a Smith 586/686, but if you want a bore bigger than 9mm/.357magnum, an N frame might be what you're looking for.

I like the 610. Moonclips make reloads fast and brass easy to keep track of. You can shoot cheap .40 S&W or the hottest 10mm.

I recently bought a S&W 625 and can't recommend it highly enough. As others have said, the 610 might also be a good choice. It handles 10mm and .40 S&W. Both guns use moonclips which allow reloads almost as fast as a semiauto.

Alright, now I can't help myself. I would once again like to emphasize the clear superiority of the 610 over the 625. :D

The 610 allows you to shoot cheaper than the 625 (using .40 S&W).
The 610 gives you more power than the 625 (using 10mm).

Of course the obvious answer is to get both.

Or...........there is the S&W 646 in .40 S&W on the L frame. Should be a bit lighter and more compact.

I've never had the argent to get one, but the 610 is one of the hottest selling handguns in Alaska. The 10mm is one of the most underappreciated revolver options out there. It really comes onto its own in a big wheelgun. Extremely potent as a man stopper, and with heavy solids not too shabby as a backup bear gun.

You're missing out, cosmoline.
The 610 is one of the finer things in life.
But he said bowling pins, and nothing slays bowling pins like a .45.......

Thanks for the great comments and pictures!!!

The 625 seems like a good choice.
