ID Old S&W Revolver

Hello,

I have a old S&W revolver and was wondering if anyone could identify and possibly have the value of it. It is a break-down design for loading/un-loading. Say's "38 sw CTG" on barrel. Barrel is 4" long. Double action. Has these dates on it- may 1880,jan 1882,apr 1889. Serial number on bottom of grip is 438569. Gun is in excellent shape. Any info would be appreciated.

Description fits a S&W .38 Double Action Fourth Model made between 1895 and 1909. I can't set a dollar value. Nobody really can without seeing it.

I looked up a couple of these and it appears to be this model.

Lookup "Old Fuff" in the Search function. If there's anyone on this forum who can help you, it's him.

Another thing would be to send 30 bucks and a Smith and Wesson form (which can be found in this thread) http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=261278 to Roy Jinks the S&W Historian, and get an authorized factory letter back.

It's definitely worth it!
