WOW!!

That was quick.

Thank you so much for that, 1858.

We here in Australia don't get to see too many "black guns" and we get all kinda giddy and giggly when we see them out at the range.

Another rifle to put on my lest of must haves.

Awesome stuff.

And it is not a 7.65 mm Unless you folks have some sort of bizarre laws that would make somebody change the chambering to a non-military cartridge.

There are lots of chassis systems out there for Remington 700 actions (and others). Most don't entirely surround the action, and typically the optics mount directly to the top of the action rather than to the chassis.

Trying to find a supplier or get a chassis system shipped into this country will be an interesting exercise.

I get the distinct feeling my head and my pocket book are going to hate me for it by the time I'm through.

I would think that you could buy an AICS or AX AICS fairly easily since they're made in the UK by Accuracy International. If you really want a great rifle from the get go, buy an Accuracy International AE, AW or AX.

Here are the chassis systems.

As Float Pilot pointed out, the cartridge is most likely not a 7.65 x 51. The proper designation would be 7.62x51mm NATO if that's what the rifle is chambered for.

Thanks 1858.

Just goes to show the quality of journalist!

I just found an Australian supplier who sells Accuracy International chassis systems and I'm looking at $1565 for the stock and mags are $155 each.
An AX .308-$8765. Ok. OUCH.

For the sake of those interested in Australian gun prices I'll post the site.

He's not 1868, he's 1858, lol. Sorry, I had to. Thanks for posting up the pics. Nice looking rifle. Caliber's not bad either.

Thanks for the heads up.

It just wouldn't do to get his name wrong after he's been so helpful.

I had to correct 3 of my typos trying to type that cause of my fat fingers. I've sent out a lot worse than that not checking myself. It's funnier when you get overtired like today.

Would be interested in seeing what non typical firearms you run across over there. I find the less common more interesting.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Oh thank you, 7.62 NATO.
That's sweet.

I guess for the most part I think I'll be lurking, reading, learning and drooling over guns I'm not allowed to own.

I'll throw my 2 cents in if I think it'll be constructive or at lest add some worth to the conversation.

Ouch, you have to be really serious about shooting there at those prices.

Jim

That isn't the half of it, jim243.

There's the ammo, reloading gear, mandatory government compliant gun safes, safety courses, gun license fees, back ground checks, over 6 months cooling off period, and miles and miles of government red tape and annual safe and gun audits.

It all adds up to some serious money.

Since when is any bolt action Remington 700 considered to be a "black gun"? Is is because of the pistol grip? ... or maybe the high capacity detachable magazine? ... or maybe because it's a military caliber? Certainly not just because it has black colored parts attached to it...?

There are certainly plenty of detachable magazine Remington 700's in .223, .308, or 30-06 with black plastic stocks over here that aren't considered "black guns". To me, it's just another bolt gun.

Not trying to start a debate. I'm just curious about how this type of rifle is perceived/regulated in other countries.
