Idaho to California handgun question

So if someone were to have purchased a Ballester Molina .45 straight up cash in northern Idaho than several months later moved back to California and brought said handgun with him how would he go about makeing said .45 California legal? or would he?

First, we trust that at the time of purchase the purchaser was an Idaho resident, as defined in the applicable federal statutes.

If that's the case, it's JDoe is right on the money, and it's just a matter of registering the gun in California. Of course, no high capacity magazines, but that's not an issue with a Ballester Molina .45.
