Ideal MOA

What MOA size do you use for handgun steel reactive targets and/or the steel targets that's setup in a pattern? Sorry for my broad question but my ignorance is overflowing...
My wife and I belong to a range that has many steel reactive targets and other metal targets designed in a pattern -- they hold competitions almost weekly...my wife wanted to get involved -- just wondering where to start for holographic dot optics.

I use a ten MOA in my Tasco PDP. Many of the PDP 3 's are 5 MOA but the bigger one does fine for IPSC usage. An 8" plate at 50 yards is dead meat very quickly.
