identify this cartridge case!

No pic. but measures out exactly like a 50 BMG except only 3 inches long. It is a fired case, looks exactly like the 50 bmg, i.e. neck angle etc., outside diameters are same,,,,,,,just 3.002" long. L C 6 7 marked on rim.
 
That'll be a 50 Battalion Anti-Tank (BAT), as fired from the M8C Spotting Rifle (though I could see someone chambering a regular bolt-action or single-shot for it, provided they had a steady supply of cases). Here's a cut-away view of what the original service load looked like, the M48A1 (the middle round);

Thanx so much SDC, now I can go to bed! I said I wouldn't go to bed until I knew but was beginning to want to weasel on that statement, ha ha, Terry.
 
Spotting rounds were loaded to the same trajectory as the weapon it was designed to be used with. If the spotter hit the target, your main weapon would also. I think yours is for a 106mm recoiless rifle.
