What no Lexan?

Seems to me the "plastic" dividers placed between the front and back seats of squad cars are supposed to be made of Lexan. Lexan is quite bullet resistant. Maybe the officer's family should sue the city fathers for purchasing sub standard equipment to protect the "protectors".

I do have to point out that the illegal perp managed to hide a 9mm in his pants waistband, and was not properly patted down?

This officer was enforcing our laws and got shot by scum. This particular illegal probably had 4 different types of warrants for local, state and federal charges already. The illegal had no ID and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without ID... sounds appropriate.

One of our enforcement officers from some branch of government (city, state, federal, whatever) found him and took him into custody improperly without patting him down for weapons.

I am very sorry for this loss, but it isn't just because the guy was an illegal. It's largely an oversight of the officer that got him killed. Could have happened in Detroit just as easily, minus the illegal angle.

It really sounds like the officer's family doesn't have anything to sue over. The officer was trained and required to perform a body search for weapons. He neglected to do his job and is now dead as a result. It's a shame.

maybe they should sue the Federal Government for letting illegals in...

Unfortunately Houston is a 'sanctuary city'. Immigration laws will not be enforced by HPD and ICE will not even be called, thanks to the rich demorat mayor. Now we see exactly who is finding sanctuary here.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Even if the cop did fail to pat the subject down thoroughly, a "bullet proof" barrier would have saved his life. Please explain to me why it isn't the state's fault for letting sub-standard equipment come between an officer and coming home to his family?
