Location
My own little slice of Purgatory
  • Want to learn to pick up a rack grade rifle, shoot surplus ammo, from field positions (no bench, you cheaters :) ) and hit a man-sized target reliably at 500 yards with iron sights?
  • Want to be in a friendly atmosphere with no one screaming in your ear?
  • Want to do it at a location near you without travelling half-way across the country?
  • Want to do it with a M1A? Garand? FAL? AR? 22LR?
  • Want to have kids and military get in free?
  • Want to do it for around $35 per day (and get a free T-Shirt)?
You need to go to an Appleseed...

Appleseed is coming to Illinois again! The first event in Bloomington was well attended and successful (see my review at http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=280890&highlight=appleseed) so RWVA is sponsoring a second event on August 18-19 at the Buffalo Range Shooting Park in Ottawa, IL.

Nice post, and great Pics.

These events are a very good learning experience for new and seasoned shooters alike.

With Kids under 21 shooting FREE, and the friendly, family atmosphere, these are great events for the family. Good introduction to structured training, great foundation for further learning and improvement of shooting skills, and some early American history/heritage as well.

The Appleseeds meet the CMP shooting requirements, and with a RWVA Associate membership ($20) you have met all the requirements for CMP rifle sales.

Military shoot FREE as well.

Difficult to have as much fun in a weekend, with a rifle, than an Appleseed.

The Appleseed program is a great way to gain the skills needed to wring your rifle out to 500 + yards. They teach the shooter how to do their job, so that the rifle can do it's job, in an atmosphere that is relaxed and enjoyable.

For $70 for the weekend, this is without a doubt the least expensive, quality training you will find anywhere.

That sounds like great fun! I wish I wasn't so arthritic that just thinking about getting into a sitting or kneeling position causes me pain. I can go prone if someone picks me up :D

Many helpful folks at Appleseed shoots, heck, you might get someone to offer you a hand ;)

Stop in, say "Hi" and maybe watch the program, if nothing else, perhaps you can help spread the word.
