I'm trying to find a specific kind of .22 rifle.

If we don't hear from DM soon, I might start thinking that he "made" this rifle by merely reversing a photo of a right-handed rifle.
Or that this is one of those 1930's Mossbergs already mentioned.
But hey, I always was the suspicious type... :scrutiny:

i think a good gunsmith could put a 582 barrel and tube on a 581 bolt action left handed rifle, the only modifacation would be to fit the tube and feed lifter to the 581 stock.eastbank

A home hobbyist with gumption could make it work. I have a Savage Model 7, part of a series of semi-auto rimfires collectively known as "gill guns". Mine is magazine fed while many are tube fed so finding a stock inletted for the tube magazine and the tube itself would allow for a simple swap.

Starting with a lefty bolt action as in the above mentioned Remington, a swap is more than doable.

I have the left handed disability as well.

My shooting life began with a Remington model 12a 22 pump S, L, LR
It had a tang mount peep sight and was very accurate and an excellent way to learn marksmanship.

I now have a few other lefty-friendly 22's including winchester and Henry levers. The weak point of both of those guns are the factory sights.

My most accurate 22 is my lefty CZ 452 Lux. It has a great trigger and incredible factory sights. It is also designed like a full size rifle. You can use 5, 10 or single feed magazines. I haven't tried shorts in mine but I'll load some in a mag and let you know later how they work.

Needless to say, I have been extremely pleased with my CZ. Good luck in your search!

I wonder if it would be more cost efficient if I stopped buying guns and instead bought some tech sight aperture sights for my 795 and a couple of bricks of .22

Here's my take on making one, find the right hand version that best fits and have a gun Smith mill the bolt handle groove on the left side of the receiver and leave the ejection port on the right side. Down the road if you pass it on the bolt handle can be switched back to the right side if needed

It's been a while, but I bought my lefty daughter a 581. We fired shorts and LR from the magazine, plus there was a little plastic insert for the magazine to make it into a single shot.

The 581 isn't a thing of engineered beauty....even thought the bolt was on the left, it ejected to the right, so I'm thinking the previous suggestions about making a lefty receiver are good ones....assuming you know how, which I don't.....

The pumps are a hoot to shoot too. I have an old Remington 12 A made in 1929, it will shoot cb's shorts, longs ,(man I haven't seen them in quite awhile) and L R's.

Tiny little sights for old eyes though.

Lefties might get the cases shucked in their face if they don't pump it hard !

I've got the LH malaise. Not long ago I built myself an AR with a poly lower and a CMMG upper (not a conversion kit but rather the real thing). Very nice. Now I have a strong desire for a bolt action .22 and am looking at either the CZ or an Anschutz. The latter being stupid expensive and may test the 'cry once' aphorism.
