along with 100 round to defend yourself. Which one would it be? Of course this list is kind-of arbitrary and subjective but the results should be interesting. All ammo is assumed to be top qualtiy +P hollow-points. So essentially the gun chosen needs to be very reliable, combat accurate, not too finicky. There are 2 9mm and 2 45s to choose from. All are full size pistols, wanted to keep the poll from getting too complicated by adding compacts, etc.

PS You have 3 magazines. Any size/type commercially available.

PPS Please keep the comments related to the poll in question. Sure, I would rather take a Mossberg 500 and a couple hand grenades.

Well, if they are real assassins, you probably never knew they were there. And if they failed to kill ya, they aren't going to chase you and make a big spectacle. There will be other opportunities. So, my initial reaction is I'd like any gun in that situation, even though I wouldn't have a chance to use it.

But in the spirit of imagining things, I guess I'd take a Colt. Cause I'm a classy target.

So all these guns and ammo are just sitting on a table and assasins are after you and there is another assasin pointing a gun at your head telling you to choose one?

Just for fun I voted for the glock 17. Why? It's the only one of these handguns that I own. I have enough experience with it and trigger time to know what I can and cannot do with the gun. Oh, and, you said I could have 3 magazines. I would want one 17 round mag and two 33 round mags. That only leaves me with only 16 loose rounds of ammo to thumb back into a magazine.

A very close second would be the Colt 1911 in 45, just because they are so sweet to shoot.

I would take the P226 because of it's capacity and I don't like Glocks.

88 Magnum. It shoots through schools.

Hopefully your evasive skills are good enough because you'll find out that your choice is horrible if you have to use it. ;)

The OP posed a scenario that's very different than most of our "range shooting" where targets are static.

Even though a pistol shoots very accurate for you in slow-fire, shooting at moving targets rapidly is another thing altogether. We set up moving targets for our USPSA match stages and if you are not proficient with moving targets, placing shots on moving targets is challenging to say the least.

Also, if we "imagine" they are highly trained "real" assassins, we would need every bit of advantage as chances are they would be wearing body armor and shots fired would probably need to be head/hip/leg shots (areas often not protected by body armor) as the +P 9mm/45ACP JHPs won't be effective against body armor.

Out of 4 pistol choices, I would select the one that I was most familiar with and could shoot fastest with accuracy. I have shot all four in your list and would have to say they vary enough in shooting characteristics to warrant deliberate training to produce accurate shots on moving targets - and that would be based on personal level of training.

Maybe another approach is not to "neutralize or kill" the assassins, but to be able to injure them enough to slow them down so you can make your getaway and regroup/rearm with better weapons. ;):D

100? THey're moving so slowly that you can count them...?

No, wait, your counter assassin intelligence network gave you a heads up. Nah, can't be that 'cause it's "suddenly".

Are my dogs in the scenario? Should I wake up my wife? Great, now I'm gonna have the same bad dreams that probably incited this post in the first place.

What's the definition of an assassin? -- Someone who sets out to kill a person of note whom a lot of people wouldn't exactly miss if the purpose were fulfilled.

I hope that's not me.

At any rate, I see this is just another one of those "Hey guys give me a justification for shooting somebody" threads that represent what anti gun types believe we think about all the time.
