Improving Powder Measurement Accuracy

Running some powdered graphite through a PM prior to first use (when new) is supposed to smoothe the action and increase consistency. Stroking the lever in the same way for each dispense also adds to consistency.

How much more consistent can you get than a Lee dipper with a business card 'leveler'?

Consistent enough for most pistol loads.

90% of the stuff discussed in this post wouldn't show up on target until about 400 yds.

Maybe hold true for pistol rounds, but not for rifle accuracy especially at your 400 yards.

You're assuming a minute change in trajectory is the only effect of velocity swings, it's not that simple.

Not assuming anything. My statement is based on 10s of 1000s of rounds fired with both weighed and thrown loads. Digital and beam scales. Lyman, Lee, Redding, and Dillon measures.

I also believe that 90% of shooters would never detect the difference in a +/- .1gr difference in their loads. Especially with a handgun.

At least 90% IMO. :)

With my shaking and trembling, a half a grain in a handgun would probably go unoticed unless we're at the high end towards max. And then it would more than likely be because my wrist starts to hurt.

I was being overly generous. Internet groups , you know :)

Same here brother. Same here. If it weren't for TrailBoss powder, my SBH Hunter would not get out of the safe very often :)
