Well maybe not the Holy Grail, but at least the grail of groups. After 2 years of putting this thing together and fiddle farting around with it to work through a couple of problems I think I am finally getting it down to brass tacks. Getting the load figured out has been a bit of a project in and of itself. But nevertheless I took it to the range today and I am quite pleased with the results :D There was a time I was really considering trashing the whole project cause for the longest time I could not get it to shoot without throwing 1 or 2 rounds every 5 a couple of inches out. It pissed me off. But with perserverence I got that glitch fixed (front Redfield scope ring wouldn't hold tight in mount). Getting a quality stock and doing some studying on properly bedding a full length military stock and handguard. And then getting the whole mess to come together so the result was this today. What do you think? :scrutiny:
I have a pic also of a second group I shot today that I haven't posted cause it is so rediculous that if I did you guys wouldn't believe it :uhoh:

Good Question. The last couple of times I've tried to post pictures in the places that you click to enlarge them there is no picture, just the space that tells "click for larger image" and the details of the image. Got ant ideas of why?

Ok, let's see if these show.
Finally ... SUCCESS!!!

Ya know, that's a right nice group for a high-end varmint rig! It's incredible for a milsurp...Congratulations! maybe you could enlighten us with some detailed descriptions of your mods? It might be fun to try 'em on a Mosin...

Thanks Clipper. It's quite possible that some of the bedding techniques I use on the 1903s may apply to Mosins in military trim also. Here's a link to the complete process I go through on the 1903s
As far as the rest that rifle has a Krieger barrel, Timney trigger set to 1.5 lb pull. The Leupold scope is a Vari XII 6 to 18 power with target reticle. As you can see it is mounted as low as possble which required the handguard to be relieved.
